I’ve been working on this concept cloud thingamawacky for the last few days, trying to capture the major stuff that happens through a university (specifically wrt eLearning, but lots of other stuff touches it). The cloud diagram started as an inside-D’Arcy’s-head way to visualize how things fit together, and to try to flesh out clusters of activity and supporting tools. It’s intended to support the eLearning Discovery Working Group project that I’ll be focusing on this summer.
The basic gist of it is that I can come up with 4 primary categories:
Registration & Enrollment (joining the university and classes)
Information Dissemination (getting access to courses and resources)
Communication & Collaboration (working with people)
Assessment & Evaluation (how are you doing?)
They loosely follow the lifecycle of a student’s path through a course, and through the university as a whole. Each category includes a bunch of activities, supported by a bunch of tools. I’m quite sure I’m missing something obvious, or overthinking this too much. Here’s the (still embarrassingly rough) cloud diagram thingy:
Any ideas on where to take this?
